Traditional Ochre Workshop

A hands-on cultural experience exploring natural pigments, art, and connection to Country.

Workshop Overview

This workshop introduces participants to the cultural significance of ochre in Aboriginal life. Ochre has been used for thousands of years for art, ceremony, storytelling, and connection to Country. Participants learn where ochre comes from, how it is traditionally prepared, and why it holds deep cultural meaning.

Through guided discussion and hands-on engagement, participants explore natural pigments and create their own artworks using ochre-inspired techniques. The session encourages curiosity, respect, and deeper understanding of how art connects people to land, story, and identity.
