Mini Cultural Day – Early Childhood

A gentle, play-based introduction to Aboriginal culture through story, music, art and connection to Country.

Workshop Overview

The Mini Cultural Day Workshop is designed specifically for early childhood settings, offering a calm, age-appropriate introduction to Aboriginal culture through play, story, creativity and sensory exploration.

Across the session, children rotate through engaging experiences such as storytelling, music and rhythm, symbol exploration, and hands-on art activities. Each activity is grounded in connection to Country and designed to support curiosity, belonging, and respectful understanding.

The focus is not on performance, but on gentle learning, creating opportunities for children to listen, ask questions, and explore culture in ways that feel safe, joyful, and developmentally appropriate.

Included in the mini cultural day are three 30min workshops:

  • Aboriginal Dance & Didgeridoo – Experience rhythm, movement, and the cultural significance of traditional sound and music.

  • Aboriginal Storytelling & Artefacts – Listen to stories shared across generations and explore the purpose and meaning of traditional tools and objects.

  • Aboriginal Symbolic Art – Engage in creative expression while learning about symbolism and visual storytelling within Aboriginal art practices.
